Top issues during term (6)
short-term rental ban
Hosts lose a revenue stream, while the city may forgo transient occupancy taxes and spend more on enforcement.
regional governance membership
There’s likely a membership cost, but the bigger payoff is getting a say in regional transportation and housing decisions that can affect city funding and projects.
city manager departure
Expect some transition costs for recruiting and possibly interim leadership, plus potential delays in budget and project decisions.
city services technology launch
The app likely costs the city money to build and maintain, but it could save staff time if enough people use it instead of calling.
public hearing on mall relocation
Moving the mall could shift sales-tax dollars and foot traffic, helping or hurting city revenue depending on where it lands and how many stores stay open.
sidewalk vendor restrictions
Vendors could lose income or pay new permit and fine costs, while the city takes on enforcement expenses and customers may lose cheap food options.
